LinkedIn is a B2B Conference That Never Ends
LinkedIn is basically a B2B conference that never ends.
Your posts? That’s your presentation. Comments? That’s like asking a question after someone’s talk or catching them during a coffee break. Direct messages? That’s walking up to someone for a chat.
But the real gold is asking for introductions.
At a conference, you don’t just wander around hoping to bump into the right person. You’re talking to someone, having a conversation, and you share your problem or what you’re working on. Then they say: “Oh, I know someone who can help with that. See that person over there? They’re dealing with the same thing. Let me introduce you.”
That introduction is infinitely more valuable than a cold DM.
I go to conferences with very specific goals. Not to “network” in some vague way. Not to sell anything. I’m not a sales manager. I go to learn 2-3 specific things, reconnect with people I already know, and make 2-3 new meaningful connections.
LinkedIn should work the same way. Before you start scrolling, ask yourself: What am I here to learn today? Who do I need to reconnect with? Who should I ask to introduce me to someone?
The best connections always come through introductions, not cold outreach.
